Marisa Shilling, M.S., CCC-SLP

Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist

Marisa is a speech-language pathologist with extensive experience treating adults in home health, outpatient clinics, and private practice settings. She founded South Florida Speech & Swallow to deliver a higher standard of therapy that keeps compassion at the core. Her goal is to create positive changes in her clients' everyday lives and bring them closer to the people and experiences that they value.

In her free time, Marisa enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, exercising, and going to the beach!

Parkinson's Disease is the world's second most common neurodegenerative disease. We specialize in treating the communication and swallowing impacts of PD through individualized exercises and principles from the SPEAK OUT! program. Our monthly support group is also open to those who wish to connect and share about their experiences.

We provide evidence-based dysphagia treatment approaches to improve our clients' swallowing safety, social participation, and overall quality of life.  Our services include safe-swallow protocols, targeted exercises, and modified diet recommendations to help you get back to enjoying mealtimes.

Step 1

Free Consultation.

Contact us at 561-351-4103 to discuss your concerns and learn about our services. Once we get a prescription from your doctor, we will verify your benefits and then schedule your first session.

Step 2

Evaluation.
We will evaluate your current speech, language, swallowing, and/or cognition skills. Together, we will discuss your goals and create a treatment plan to help you reach them.

Step 3

Therapy.
Reach your goals with skilled therapeutic support, all from the comfort of your home. You may also join our monthly Parkinson's Disease support group!

I learned that I had Parkinson’s (PD) about 8 years ago.  During these years, I have researched information about what symptoms I could expect.  I knew that speech could be affected, so when my doctor suggested speech therapy, I decided to try it.  Marisa came to me via tele-health because we were in the middle of a pandemic.  I was skeptical about this method of treatment, but it has worked out perfectly for me.  Marisa guides me through exercises targeting my voice and swallowing. She is always on time and professional.  I can feel that I have made progress with my voice.  The ultimate test came when I gave a 10 minute speech for my bat mitzvah.  My voice was clear and loud.  I need to keep up with the therapy because if I don’t, I will probably regress.  Marisa is a wonderful therapist, always encouraging and giving advice when needed.  I highly recommend her.
